Kiriki Press Beginner Embroidery Stitch Sampler
I’ve been wanting to up my embroidery skills.
I’ve been watching Reign and have realized my only hope at such luxe fabric goodness is figuring out how to get the pretty right on them. Appliques are really expensive in Ireland, and buying them online has proven to be… disappointing at best.
I found these Kiriki Press kits and got really excited. First off, they’re adorable. Secondly, I love the idea of learning the stitch, then making something with it.
I figure it might just burn this embroidery thing into my mind.
I decided to start at the very beginning (a very good place to start), and try the beginner stitch sampler.
The packaging on this is really nice. It’s simple, plastic-free, and… I feel like I’m going to overuse the word cute when talking about anything by Kiriki Press because, well, the stuff is so cute!
It came with a pre-printed piece of fabric and all the thread. In order to do the kit, you need your own hoop, needle, and scissors.
This one wasn’t the most exciting because there’s no little motif in the centre, but it was a great warm-up and stitch builder for the harder kits.
My biggest gripe about this is the instructions. You have to download them, and I found them really confusing. I found just sticking the needle into the letters and having a good think about things was an easier way to go. I’m a bit worried about this method when I get into the harder kits with 3D stitches.
Overall, this was a fun way to go over some basic stitches. It was a great confidence builder, and I can’t wait to tackle more kits.
