Can I Grow Tea in a Can? Buzzy Can 2 Grow Rooibos Tea Kit Review

I always see little garden kits and I get so curious about them. I think it’s because I have a lot of opinions about what a kit is and exactly what it should be. I was doing some seed shopping and saw these on the website and couldn’t help myself. Unfortunately they were out of coffee so I got two tea, which is fine by me because I’m a bit of a rooibos fiend. I want to get more into making my own tea blends and rooibos is a great base for a lot of them. More tea is never a bad thing.

March 7th - Let’s see what we’re working with…

The can said it contained a soil tablet, seeds, and detailed sowing instructions. I opened the first one and was confused because there was no little instruction slip. I thought maybe I just got a dud one, so I opened the second to see if there was any guidance.

After a lot of being very confused and searching, I’ve determined that these symbols are the “detailed instructions”. I wouldn’t call them detailed, but we’ll try our best.

There are a few concerns I have. The first is how much water do I put in the soil tablet? I have a history of over hydrating these things so some guidance would be appreciated. I’m also super worried about drainage. I get the impression we’re supposed to grow this in the can because that’s what the picture shows and like, isn’t that the schtick? Also, and this is something that drives me absolutely bonkers with these kits, is that it says I’ll need to repot. It gives five seeds, so I’m not sure if I could even grow one plant in the little can? Like, what’s the point if I’m going to have to buy more pots?

I’m skeptical but I’ve carefully hydrated the soil tablet and I’ll pop the seeds in the tin when it’s hydrated. I’ll keep you updated when I get sprouts, and, more importantly, when I can sit down to a nice cup of tea!
