Sometimes you just need a top. An easy top, a simple top. A top you can tuck, a top you can eat in, a top that goes with everything.

I was on the testing team for the curvy sizing of this piece so I can confidently say it’s an excellent pattern. Rebecca Page patterns are always such a knockout for ease of use. I feel like they have the most thorough directions I’ve encountered.

That is all basically to say that I’m a big fan and this top sewed together like a dream.

I cut the 8C size, but I cut to the 15C length since I’m a tall girl. I used an organic cotton black jersey. I really wanted this to be one of those “throw it on” tops and it definitely is. I’m wearing it here tucked into a skirt for a dinner out. I really love the blouson style it gives- although given how long I made it I think I should have done the belt it under trick because it definitely bunched up a bit under my skirt.

The pattern options come with a 3/4 sleeve- which I did- a short sleeve that’s gathered on the bottom and a fluttery long sleeve.
A part of me wishes I had done the sleeve slightly longer with the elastic a bit tighter (I may or may not have sort of ignored the instruction that said to stretch the elastic around your arm to test it… whoops!) but at the same time, I love the bracelet balloon sleeve it ended up giving.

I definitely think I’ll play with this pattern a bit more. I want a summer version with fluttery short sleeves, and I’m even tempted to try a cropped version. I love the longer length- especially with skinny jeans and tall boots, but I’m curious about how to make this more versatile with high waisted skirts or over a dress. Given that this can be made with knits or wovens it’s also great for that fabric you just had to buy but now have no idea what to do with.

I think the biggest testament I can give the Olivia is that I wear it a lot.
If you’re curious about more ways to style it I’ve made a video as well:
