Paris Day Dress by Rebecca Page Pattern Review
It’s well established I love a twirl.
If in these photos I look a bit like I’m terrified of twirling too hard and falling off my roof, that’s because I 100% was.
Let’s talk about the Paris Day Dress by Rebecca Page.*

This pattern is made for knits, comes in child’s sizes and ladies XXS-5X. It’s also important to note that Rebecca Page Patterns are in imperial- I find it easiest to do all the conversions when I do my first read-through of the instructions.
I made the three-tier skirt with a scoop neck and 3/4 sleeves and cut a size 4X in the bodice, 3X at the waist, and 5X at the hips. I used a rope print fabric from LoveFabric.ie.
I haven’t sewn knits in three years, so this definitely took a minute for me. Once I got in the swing of things I quickly remembered how much I love working with knits- They’re so forgiving!
The nature of this pattern means a LOT of gathering. It was tedious and annoying, but I also felt that I got a bit better at it so maybe next time it won’t be as bad? Much like everything else in life, sewing is one of those annoying things that you need to practice until you’re good at and this dress is a great way to get it.
It’s also good to note that the thing that makes this skirt so deliciously twirly- that hem- is a LOT of hemming. It’s a straight edge, so it’s not too bad, but it’s definitely a good bit of fabric.
Knits are definitely worth it though because they’re so comfy to wear. This dress low key feels pyjama like but looks so good on. I’m hoping since I picked the longer sleeve and a darker print I can easily transition it into winter with boots and maybe a cowl?
The only thing I wish I would have done a bit differently is lengthened the bodice a wee bit- maybe like, 3cm. If I’m wearing a wider belt it’s not a big deal, but with something narrower the belt would definitely hit under the seam. I’m also wondering if I measured myself correctly because the bodice feels a bit roomy.
My biggest criticism of this pattern is one I think I’m going to rectify quickly: There is no reason for this pattern not to have pockets.
Honestly.
I wish I had more to say, but really, the skirt twirls say it all. This is a fun, relatively easy sew that I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of.
