BohemStyle August Review
BohemStyle is a monthly bead subscription. It’s project-based so for €21.49 you get all the materials you need to make two pieces of jewellery.
In theory.
Before we begin, just a heads up that there are affiliate links in this post. For more information, check out my Affiliate Link and Sponsorship Disclaimer.
I’ve been looking at this box for a while and I was so excited when it came.
All the beads come in little plastic bags in a paper box. I really like how they’ve used wood shavings for shipping protection instead of adding more plastic.
So, one thing that gets me about this box is there’s no picture of the finished project. I get that it’s easier to have a standard inner leaflet- it leads you to an unlisted YouTube video- but looking at this assemblage of beads… I was confused. I get a Paris theme with the charms, but the colours didn’t really read Paris to me.
I’m trying to expand my jewellery style a bit, so I got going with the beading.
You need standard jewellery pliers for these- I got my set on AliExpress- and you need some very basic beading knowledge. If you can open a jump ring and use crimp beads you should be fine.
I started with the necklace and by the end of it, I was still… unsure.
The biggest issue here is I ran out of wire by the third tier of the bracelet. I didn’t have any lying around so this is as far as I’ve got.
I’m unsure about this. First off, there weren’t enough materials. I mean, there’s really not much I can say about that.
As for the style… I’m in between. I didn’t really like it when I first saw the video. As I was making it kind of grew on me? I wonder if I’d like it better if it were a different charm. Maybe just a blank disc? Or those fun Roman coin-esque ones?
I think I need to, well, first off procure more wire and finish the project, but also wear it a bit to see how I get on.
Despite the material issue, I had fun making this and I’ll definitely be excited when my box comes next month.
