Buying Quilt Supplies is the Only Logical Option
It’s been a weird one. January felt like it dragged on but I’m still shocked that it’s already February. I didn’t know where the time went until I actually went to look at how much I’ve done crafts-wise.
Just a heads up, I use affiliate links. For more information, check out my Affiliate Link & Sponsorship Disclaimer.
I finished the back of the sweater! This is part of the Bear Necessities Set. I’m making it in the recommended Debbie Bliss Cashmerino.
I’ve made a bit of progress on the front. My goal this week is to really hunker down and make some good progress.
I’ve decided I’m going to line the blanket with some linen, so I want to get this all embroidered and blocked as quickly as I can.
I’ve kept up my temperature blanket. I’m making this one in Drops Karisma. It’s starting to look like an actual blanket and not just a random piece of crochet.
I’ve been trying to get my unwieldy scraps sorted. I unpacked a box of them and separated them into really big knit pieces and took the really tiny pieces and cut them into these little shards for filling. I’m sick of buying polyfill- it’s expensive and feels really wasteful.
I also have a lot of bigger woven scraps. I’ve decided I’m going to make a scrappy English Paper Piecing quilt. I’ve been seeing EPP around a lot lately and I’ve definitely been curious. I got some quilt rulers and set off to make some paper hexagons.
It was right about here I realized a few things. First off, I have no idea where my fabric scissors are. Literally none.
The second being while I remember how to piece a quilt top, I don’t really remember how to back, quilt, or bind.
The only logical option is to take a quilting class. I’m doing this for the sake of cleaning. It’s not even my fault at this point! I found a Startup Library class on Craftsy and went fabric hunting.
I found the Wild Meadow Collection by Moda Fabrics and knew this is what I wanted. I managed to find some of them at a shop in Ireland- The Crafty Fox. I managed to find another pack of four cuts from an Etsy shop in Germany. The quilt has some motifs but a central background colour. Since I need a bit of a swath of that fabric I’m limited to one of the ones I bought in Ireland. I’m debating between this cream because for some odd reason, I feel like the background needs to be in the white/cream spectrum…. but I think that some of the lighter colours will get lost with it. I’m leaning towards the raspberry one. It’s a bit simpler, and I feel like every colour next to it has a bit of a good contrast. Also, I really love it as a colour.
What do you think? I’m completely stuck!
I’ve made a video to go with this post! Check it out to see these projects in action.
