Hey there!

My name’s Sandy Salierno and I love making clothes!

Fit Well Socks

Fit Well Socks

There’s something about a hand-knit sock. It’s like wrapping your feet up in love. There’s no one I want to feel loved more than my husband, so Adam finally got some every day, full proper knit socks.

I used MillaMia Naturally Soft Sock in the colourway herb. Overall, I like this yarn. It’s quite soft, yet still feels sturdy. It’s 75% wool, 25% polyamide. I think it’s interesting it’s not superwash wool, but I tend to hand wash our knit socks anyway. I also found it a bit on the thinner side of sock yarn. It’s also important to note it comes in 50g balls. I like a short sock, but Adam prefers a longer leg. I bought two skeins and have lots of yarn left for my beekeeper’s quilt. In the two skeins, I found one knot.

I used the Fit Well Socks pattern by Amanda Cathleen Morgan. It’s a free pattern and is an all-up great sock pattern. The broken rib is easy to do, easy to keep track of and all up makes a very well-fitting sock. I think this pattern looks great with a solid, but would also look good with a variegated or self-striping yarn. I think you’d want some experience with a cuff-down heel turn and gusset sock pattern before you attempt this, but it’d make a great second or third sock.

I know Adam is going to get a lot of use out of these!
