Questionable Embroidery
It’s been a cold week, which I love. There’s something about the cold weather that usually makes me want to stay in and do crafts, but it was more of a stay-in and do nothing for this one.
I should mind, but it’s about balance, no? I think sometimes giving ourselves a bit of time off can make us more productive in the long run. I feel like it’s a sort of race of the turtle and hare thing.
Just a heads up, I use affiliate links. Check out my Affiliate Link and Sponsorship Disclaimer for more information on what they are and how I use them.
The good news is I started the embroidery on my Bear Necessities Set. For some reason, they chart where the eyes go but not the nose, so I’m not going to lie there has been a lot of second-guessing in this process. I think I’m at the point where I’m nit-picking (knit-picking?) because it’s something I’ve made. I know if a friend showed me this I’d have nothing but nice things to say, it’s just so easy to be critical of ourselves.
I’m making it in the recommended Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. It’s a great yarn and I’m really liking the colours that got selected. I bought exactly what was recommended but somehow I still have a whole skein of light brown and a skein and three-quarters of white. I’m okay with it because realistically I’ll have another baby to knit for at some point and wouldn’t mind doing the hat and sweater again.
While the set was blocking I ended up casting on the Ombre Cardigan by Tanis Fiber Arts. I’m using the now-discontinued Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace.
This is my second go at this. During the first one a few weird things happened: first off, there was a piece of yarn just laying on one of the skeins. Not even knotted, just laying there. I’ve never had that happen before. Secondly, this notch just started forming in the collar. My best guess is maybe at some point I added stitches on weird to make a count? I ended up recasting on and it’s not there so it’s definitely me and not the pattern, but I still cannot figure it out.
I suppose I should chalk it up to the lesson I will learn over and over but never commit to:
counting matters.
As for my temperature blanket, I am behind. I don’t know why, I honestly don’t understand how. All I know is that I will not be catching up this weekend. I can’t believe it’s Paddy’s Day already. This is the first one I’ve spent in Dublin since we moved here and even then I ended up in Cork. I have an absolutely jam-packed weekend and I couldn’t be happier about it.
I hope you’re all doing something fun and wearing some green!
